Duke: 1/8/2024-2/28/2024

Duke arrived in the same trailer as the rescues from TN.  He had a turnout coat on because he was so underweight.  He was covered in mud and sick. The vet estimated his age at 30+.  We nursed him back to health and fed him a mush of alfalfa and feed three times a day to help him get some weight.  Unfortunately, his heart was too weak, and we lost him on February 28th.  

We are happy we had the opportunity to care for him and love him.  I know he was happy his last couple of months.  We brushed him, took him on walks and cared for him during his last days.  

Even though we had not planned on saving you, we are grateful you stayed.
